I was talking to a computer consultant recently about how Linux is fairing in the business world. He said that, although Linux often provides a cheaper and more stable/secure server, finding a firm that can provide a staff of qualified Linux consultants for setup and support can be difficult because there aren't a lot of them out there. Any thoughts on this? Are consulting firms starting to expand more into this area? I see where Canonical is offering training and certification, but what about other distro companies? Do any of you see a trend towards consultants adding Linux to their knowledge base?
I am always happy to talk to fellow linux users. I really can't even use my computer my dad gave me. I in my spare time like to take some old computers apart and see how the run, what makes them run. I crashed two, cpu's, but now 3years later. I saved my friends (whom I live with) computer, my mothers which I got frustrated and really caused it to crash but the ubuntu live cd I downloaded help bring life back in them. I still wouldn't call my self a geek or techie but I do have fun playing with them, too much sometime, forgeting to eat, but I eat sooner or later.Well, I have to tell you the kind of C.P.U. I am working with, it's an acer computer, and with all the bells and whistles that ubuntu we have used we still have plenty of room. If we had a 64 bit instead of a 32 bit we really coud get some real flashy bells and whistles. And it seems that is what my friend is wanting out of it. I guess that is why we had to use ubuntu anyway cause they had no security programs to speak of(old ones don't count) and they used the computer til it just wouldn't work no more now the thing you should know is this computer is not even a good year old yet. They just didn't take care of it. you know how some people just ride cars into the ground. well that's what happened to the computer. I need som help, I wish they had a linux chat where they could walk me through what I need to do.
I can't remember if I said anything about this but I will you my point of view that is all i can do, but I will look into it. Actually, the beryl + compis fusion found at the sabyon distro has support for them, as for the rest I am not sure but as we speak I am looking within sittes I belong to for people to come together to create a remote securty for the ubuntu linux system, later we will try to connect the other systems with the same kind of remote security, I have to check back in later and see if I have any confirmations to my requests.
