Desktop Effects in Feisty Fawn

I enabled desktop effects on my Ubuntu laptop and desktop, fully understanding that this was in beta. Since then, I have had some video problems on the laptop that I am wondering might be associated with glitches in those effects. I have lost the ability to switch desktops and certain windows and dialog boxes do not display properly (i.e. are blank or garbled). Does anyone know if that is something that users have experienced when this feature is enabled? Will Gutsy Gibbon have a final, stable, version? It's neat eye candy, but I can disable it until it is a supported feature.

this is very much the sort of problem I hit when I tried this as well. I think it is something todo with the enhanced xwindows stuff that are used. I am waiting till it is out of beta :)
